Foods To Eat To Reduce The Appearance Of Cellulite



This is one of the healthiest foods in the entire world, and it is extremely effective when it comes to combating the build up of fatty deposits under the skin that lead to cellulite. Salmon is an oily fish that is rich in omega 3 fatty acids. These fatty acids are known as healthy fats or “good fats” as they’re beneficial for the body and our overall health and well-being in a whole variety of different ways.

As far as the cellulite battling benefits are concerned, salmon is especially effective because it is rich in antioxidants that have been medically proven to help break down the fat cells under the skin that contribute towards cellulite. The fatty acids also help to reduce inflammation and to strengthen the skin and promote collagen and elastic levels within the skin, making it firmer and smoother looking. It also helps to improve circulation within the blood vessels, so toxins can’t build up under the skin and lead to inflammation which can create the effect of cellulite. It’s also a thermogenic food, which means that the body burns more calories just digesting it and breaking it down. This can then lead to an improvement in the metabolism, which means we’ll lose weight far more efficiently. Less fat means less cellulite.


Lemons and other citrus fruits are thought to be especially effective at combating cellulite because they’re so rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. The more vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that we consume, the healthier the skin will appear. Another key benefit associated with lemons is the fact that they actually help to reduce the impact of carbohydrate consumption upon your body. Some carbohydrates are absorbed and broken down and converted into sugars quicker than others, which can then affect blood sugar levels which will then affect insulin levels. Studies have found that regular insulin spikes are commonly associated with cellulite and weight gain. Lemons however, can help to ensure that these insulin and blood sugar levels are kept under control and stable. Rather than eating an entire lemon raw, you may want to think about adding the juice of fresh lemon to your food, or even investing in a juicer and combining fresh lemon juice with the juice of other fruits and vegetables.

Chili peppers:

These and other spicy foods similar to chilli peppers are absolutely ideal for ensuring the skin looks its absolute best. The reason for this is that they contain vitamin B6, which is proven to strengthen and restore connective tissue within the skin. the stronger the connective tissue within the skin is, the less likely the skin will be to succumb to that trademark “dimpling” effect associated with cellulite. Another great reason that chilli peppers are so beneficial and effective at fighting cellulite is the fact that they can boost the metabolism by around 25%. This increase in metabolism will last roughly 4 hours after you consume the chillies, and it is caused by a substance known as Capsaicin, which is what gives the chillies their heat. As the metabolism will be increased, so too will fat loss, which means you’ll lose weight faster whilst your metabolism is boosted by around 25%.

Green tea:

Ok, technically not a food, but green tea simply has to be mentioned because it’s simply so unbelievably healthy. Green tea contains and active enzyme known as Epigallocatechin Gallate, or EGCG for short. This active compound has been proven to increase the metabolism, help strengthen the immune system, and even help to prevent a certain number of cancers. The main reason why it’s so effective against cellulite however, is because it can prevent fat cells in the body from expanding. These fat cells are what can cause cellulite, so by preventing them from expanding, you are essentially preventing cellulite. Green tea also contains natural stimulants such as caffeine, which too can help boost metabolism to help increase fat loss, and it can also help to dehydrate body fat, and flush out toxins in the body. As the fat becomes dehydrated, it loses its size and fullness, which means that the fat cells themselves will cease pushing on the skin creating that dreaded dimpling effect that we all have nightmares about.

Olive oil:

One of the biggest mistakes that people tend to make when trying to lose weight and improve their figure, is by staying away from all sources of fat. Trans fats and saturated fats are known as bad fats, and these are responsible for us gaining excess body fat and developing spots and blemishes on our skin. Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats however, are known as good fats, as these help to reduce harmful cholesterol levels, increase healthy cholesterol levels, and help to maintain good thyroid gland health. Olive oil is rich in healthy fats that help to improve metabolism, and boost skin cell regeneration, leading to firmer, fuller, tighter looking skin. Obviously it’s still rich in calories, and consuming too much could still lead to weight gain, but using it sensibly everyday will really help to improve your overall health and well being. Try drizzling it over vegetables or salads as a delicious dressing.


It may be slightly difficult to get hold of for some of you, but if you can get hold of it, it could be a great idea to include saffron as part of your regular diet. Saffron contains a number of ingredients that are proven to be effective anti-inflammatory ingredients. The anti-inflammatory properties of this ingredient means that fat cells are reduced and their expansion is greatly reduced. It’s also great for boosting circulation within the body. An increase in circulation can lead to an increase in lean muscle mass underneath the skin, which basically provides a protective layer over the skin, so the fat cells aren’t able to create their trademark dimpling effect. The result is soft, lean, and muscular skin with no sign of cellulite anywhere at all. Saffron is best used sprinkled over foods or in dressings for salads.

Aged cheeses:

By cheese, we mean aged cheese, and only a small and balanced portion with each meal. Aged cheese is high in conjugated linoleic acid, or CLA for short. CLA is a compound that has been medically proven to lower estrogen levels within the body, naturally. An increase in estrogen has been linked to weight gain and the formation of cellulite, so naturally any food that lowers estrogen is going to be considered effective.

Mixed berries:

Berries, such as blackberries and blueberries, are jam-packed full of vitamins and antioxidants and are considered extremely healthy and beneficial for the human body. The reason why they’re so effective against cellulite is that they can enhance collagen production within the skin, which essentially leads to the creation of brand new skin tissue, improving its tone, texture, and overall health. The antioxidants they contain can also enhance the metabolism and break down fatty deposits that can build up and become attached to the connective tissue within the skin. This means that fat underneath the skin is regulated and isn’t allowed to build up and push on the skin membranes, leading to the lumpy and bumpy effect that we’d do anything to get rid of. These berries are especially great with natural yogurt first thing in a morning as breakfast.

    I stand by green tea and berries all day long. I absolutely love them and they’ve done me and my cellulite well.

    Green tea really helps because it’s a diuretic and it purifies your body. It also makes you pee like crazy, but that’s another story.

    Drinking 5 cups of green tea a day helped me lose weight and get rid of a bit of my cellulite 😀

    I am a heavy girl and suffer with my estrogen, although not clinically out of kilter, I can feel when it is at it’s worst with me. I did not know CLA could help reduce it and indeed losing weight itself.

    In my family I have always had a spicy diet and I’m sure this has helped me. I consistently rely on carbs like brown rice or sweet potatoes and mix them with lean meats. Berries are my go to breakfast whenever I don’t have enough time to make an omelet or a sandwich; I just mix them with some yoghurt and I’m done.

    I start my day with a glass of lukewarm water and two or three spoons of apple vinegar cider and then, when I have my meal, I will drink a glass or even two of green tea. I have coffee, not because it’s not healthy, but because I can’t stand its taste. During the day I might drink lemon water, depending on what I eat.
