Cleansing Diet: Foods to Eat While Detoxing Your Body

It’s important to have a healthy diet while cleansing, and the foods mentioned below are best avoided during your colon cleansing diet:

  • Soft drinks
  • Cookies, potato chips and such items
  • Black tea and coffee
  • Fast food and other quick food
  • Pasteurized milk
  • Alcohol
  • Smoking
  • Rice intake should be limited

Some important food items while Detoxing

Cleansing actually means the removal of unneeded toxins out of your body, which invariably makes you feel a bit sick. The process of cleansing can steal energy from your body. You must consume Vitamin C supplements daily for lessening the tiring effects. Some supplements which are a must for you include:

Probiotic 

Cleansing, in the process of removal of toxins, gets rid of unhealthy bacteria from your body as well. Given that these removed bacteria are actually required by the body for the maintenance of floral balance and they help in moving food items along the digestive system, restoring these bacteria with a Probiotic like Latero-flora or others, is extremely important. Kefir is a good option, and you can also go for fermented sauerkraut for this purpose. 

Raw egg yolks

A supplement like oil is also necessary for your body, like fish oil, cod liver, wheat germ oil, oregano oil, olive oil, etc. They are healthy, though they don’t directly affect the colon. Each of them has their distinct benefits, and they help in keeping a balance in the hormones, besides keeping skin and the glands smooth. You need to consume it 2-3 times daily. 

Yeast flakes 

After raw egg yolks, yeast flakes are the next most nutritious food of the world. Yeast flakes contain Vitamin B and even other minerals which you may find difficult finding anywhere else. You can simply add yeast flakes to fresh fruit juice or milk, and drink it. So if you just cannot manage egg yolks, then yeast flakes are the best for you. 

The supplements mentioned above are very nutritious for you, and they are very much necessary to be taken while you follow a cleansing program, as they will give you the required energy which you might lose during the diet.

Digestive Health

Our digestive system is one of the most important parts of our body. It is the part that digests the food to be able to get the necessary nutrients. Because of this, it is essential that we look after our colon by giving it cleansing foods. We need to feed it the right way in order to give it the nutrients it needs to make it function well.

Fiber

One of the most important foods would be anything with fiber. These would be vegetables, fruits, beans, nuts, seeds, root crops and grains. Aside from rice, it is good to have vegetables that are dark green in color. This would mean that they contain chlorophyll. The chlorophyll in the vegetables helps to heal and soothe the tissues that have been damaged in the digestive area. The chlorophyll would bring more oxygen to that area and help remove toxins as well.

The Importance of Drinking More Water

Another essential thing you must have would be water. With this, you will be able to lessen the chances of you constipating. It will also be able to flush out the toxins in your body, which is very good for the colon. An ideal amount of water to drink would be around six to ten glasses a day. The best thing about water is that it is all natural. It keeps the tissues clean as it helps flush out the bad things in our body. A lack of water would not allow the cells to rebuild themselves in our body.

It is important that you incorporate this in your daily diet while on your cleanse plan. That way you will have a very balanced diet that can allow you to get all the nutrients your body needs to function well.

When your body has everything it needs, and time to heal, you can expect your body to naturally detoxify itself.

    Washing and peeling fruits and vegetables can greatly reduce the amount of pesticide residues, but doing so won’t necessarily remove all of them. You should wash all produce, whether organically or conventionally grown, before eating. I suggest using a small amount of diluted dish detergent and a vegetable scrubber, followed by a warm water rinse. A 1996 study done at the Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, Texas, showed that by washing (and sometimes peeling) produce, pesticides could be removed from nearly half the samples and lowered in the rest by 30 to almost 100 percent.

    I recommend eating a variety of organic produce, but if you do buy conventionally grown fruits and vegetables, stick with those least likely to have pesticides on them such as avocado, sweet corn, broccoli, asparagus, bananas, pineapple, and mango. The Environmental Working Group (ewg.org) found peaches, raspberries, strawberries, apples, celery, spinach, potatoes, and sweet bell peppers to be the most contaminated with pesticides when grown conventionally. The three worst culprits were peaches with 45 types of pesticides and sweet bell peppers and raspberries, both with 39. If your food budget allows, purchase organic varieties of the most contaminated produce, as many pesticides are known carcinogens.

    Keeping the colon clean is much harder to do if you do not remain healthy. Therefore, you must eat a proper diet before, during, and after any colon cleanse routine.
    You need to eat a balanced mean no matter what type of digestive cleaning regimen you choose. This is a prerequisite whether you use a home remedy or you visit a doctor for a prescribed procedure.

    Digestive System Maintenance

    The secret to keeping your colon clean is to eat foods from all different food groups. About 50% of these should be fruits and vegetables while the rest should be high-fiber foods such as whole grain beans, beans, and cereals. You also need a variety of proteins and dairy, which is usually found in lean meats and low-fat dairy products.
    Furthermore, note that if you do eat beans they are one of the foods that are the highest in fiber. Also, note that this is a food that is rich in protein. Therefore, if you eat a primarily vegetarian diet this is one food that you can reasonably substitute for meat.
    In addition to eating a variety of foods throughout the day, remember to keep “junk” foods that are high in trans and saturated fat to a minimum. Replace eat high fat food with a lower fat alternative. For instance, instead of eating fried potato chips maybe you can try a baked variety, or some other baked item such as certain crackers.
    As a general rule of thumb also remember to eat foods that are steamed, boiled, or baked. This is far better than the deep or pan-fried. However, you can use olive oil or other non-saturated fat to grease a pan, which helps cut down on the cholesterol when frying.

    Colon Cleansing Fast

    If you are still in the process of a colon cleansing procedure, one thing that can help you is to go on a juice and liquid fast. If you do this, you might want to try juicing fruits whole with the skin on them because they contain quite a bit of fiber.
    You can also eat vegetable soups. This will help clean out your system and provide your body with nutrients and fiber.
    While on a colon cleansing fast it might be advised that you refrain from meats and starchy vegetables for at least a few days. If you cannot eliminate them then do your best.
    Foods you should are advised to limit or eliminate during a colon cleansing fast include the following:
    Fattening meats as well as process deli foods
    Eggs, milk, and cheese
    Potatoes, peas, and other starchy vegetables
    White pastas, donuts, cakes, cookies and other rich deserts
    Most high-calorie, high-fat foods
    Candies and ice cream

    You should also discontinue use of caffeine and alcohol while on a colon cleansing fast. Also, by all means stop using any harmful controlled substances such as tobacco or illegal drugs.

    Over the years, Senna has been marketed as a safe, natural colon cleanse ingredient. Therefore, it has been added to herbal teas, laxatives, detoxifiers, digestive cleansers, and vitamin supplements.

    However, more recent research indicates the possible negative affect it can have on animal muscle tissues. Granted, at first I was wondering does “animals” also mean “humans.” Unfortunately, after taking a closer look I have noticed in various documentations that this news refers to humans.

    Besides muscle-skeletal tissue damage, senna could also have a detrimental effect on other parts of the body:

    Diarrhea and other digestive problems
    Increase in risk of liver failure
    Impaired nerves
    Indirect increase of colon cancer risk
    Lowered energy
    Diaper rash and blisters in children

    So are these negative attacks on senna true?

    As with most herbs the outcome of using them is unpredictable because they are not as heavily researched as other forms of treatment-or at least that is the case in the United States. However, the way that people respond to this herb as well as psyillium husk, cascara sagrada, or others is very individualized. What works/is harmful to one person could be the exact opposite to someone else.

    And why is that? That is because there are many factors determing whether a particular colon cleanse solution will be effective or safe. One could be whether or not the person has allergies, or perhaps the other medications taken. Another factor could simply be body chemistry and composition, as well as muscle to fat body index.

    There are some reports of harm on people. However, on the other hand there are many claims of people using products that contain senna and have not experienced any negative side effects at all.

    This includes a variety of vegetables and nut oils such as canola, olive, peanut, almond, or sesame oil. These are some of the main ones that often replace saturated fats such as butter, lard, or shortening.

    Our digestive system is one of the largest systems in our body. It is comprised of both large and small intestines and the colon area among others. Because of the shape of the colon area, there is the tendency for remaining food that is not digested properly to remain in the lining of the digestive system.     How to clean your colon?

    One way would be by using psyllium husks. You can buy this at any health store. This psyllium husk is usually in powder form. You must mix this with water and drink it up. You need to drink lots of water as this fibrous powder would expand in the digestive system. This would create a bulk that would push the toxins out of the body along with the bowel movement. However you need to make sure that you would be drinking a lot of water when you take psyllium husk as there is the tendency to constipate if ever you do not have enough water. Another way to cleanse the colon would be to take bentonite. This gel like formula would also aid in making your bowel movement much better.

    While you do these cleansing regimens, you should remember to drink lots of water to allow you to have better bowel movement. You should also make sure that you take a lot of nutritious foods as the colon cleanse would take out the bad bacteria in your body. In order to get the best of the cleansing, you need to replenish the bad bacteria with good bacteria which would come from vegetables and fruits.
    If you do this regularly, you can be sure to have better bowel movements and a better functioning body. You will be more alert and you will feel so much better. So what are you waiting for? Engage yourself in this sort of program and see the results. Do not expect instantaneous results. But with constant intake, you will be able to get the benefits of a program of this sort.
