Does Coconut Oil Really Help for Weight Loss?

-

When you’re looking into the best foods for weight loss, coconut oil is likely to pop up on the list. The question that many people ask is whether it really does help to fight the fat. Of course, then people want to know just how it works and helps. Here are some of the truths behind coconut oil for weight loss.

It Depends on the Amount:

It’s really important to focus on the amount of the oil that is used each day. Just like any oil, too much of it will cause weight gain. This is because of the amount of fatty acid chains that are within the oil itself. It’s recommended to limit the daily intake to between two and three tablespoons a day. It may not sound like a lot, but it is just the right amount of fat for a healthy and balanced diet.

The Different Between Long Chained and Medium Chained Triglycerides:

Most oils have long chained triglycerides, or LCTs for short. These are not digested easily, and they end up being stored as fat in the cells. This then leads to weight gain.

Coconut oil is different. It is a medium chained triglyceride (MCT), which is much easier to digest. In fact, the MCTs in this oil are digested before they react the deeper parts of the digestive tract, which helps to burn the calories gained up quickly. By burning the calories, fat is not stored.

But What About the High Calories?

This type of oil is high in calories, and it is common to worry about that when you want to lose weight. The good news is that the calories are burned quickly. Remember the above point that they are MCTs, and digest quickly to make sure they are used. Since the calories are used up quickly, they are not left to convert into fat and store in the cells.

Having high calorie foods is not necessarily going to cause weight gain. It is all about moderation and portion control. Remember that you only need two or three tablespoons of coconut oil a day. Getting that amount will actually help create this feeling that you are fuller for longer. You eat less during the day, so you eat fewer calories.

Coconut oil is extremely powerful for weight loss. You only need a little, but the chemical makeup helps to make you feel fuller. You eat less and lose more weight.

Coconut oil has so many great uses. You can replace “bad for you” ingredients in certain recipes and even put it on your hair and skin to improve the look and feel. People are always scared of anything with the word “OIL” but they shouldn’t be!!
