Colleges for Radiology


There are numerous career opportunities in the field of radiology, including a variety of specializations. In order to begin any type of career in radiology, however, you will need to get an education in the appropriate field. For this, you need a college for radiology.

Fields in radiologic sciences is growing rapidly – especially for those people who are trained in more than one specialization in the field. Income opportunities are also greater for those with more than one specialization. Training, including specialized training, can be obtained through colleges, universities, and some hospitals as well. In order to work in this field, you will need a certificate, an associate’s degree, or a bachelor’s degree, and master’s degrees and doctorate degrees are also available.

Once you have received a certificate or associate’s degree, you will need to obtain a license from your state board before you will be allowed to deal with patients. Most students will join the workforce with just a certificate or associate’s degree, and then continue with their education after that point. The main employer for this field will be hospitals.

Regardless of which specialization you choose within this field, your main duties will include preparing patients for diagnostic imaging, operating the imaging equipment, and in some cases maintaining that equipment to some degree. You may also be responsible for adding information to patient’s records, and you must be able to understand and follow the doctor’s orders for imaging requests.

The average income for someone in the radiology field is over $50,000 annually, but when you first start out, your annual income will be closer to $40,000. As time passes, and you gain more education and experience, you can expect to earn upwards of $75,000 annually.
