Colon Hydrotherapy Certification

Becoming a Colonic Therapist can be a very lucrative career, but it isn’t a suitable career choice for everybody. Aside from training and Colon Hydrotherapy Certification, you must also have a certain personality to be able to be successful in this field.

First and foremost, you must have the ability to make people feel comfortable – regardless of anything else. You must also have high standards when it comes to cleanliness, and you must have enough knowledge about nutrition to help your clients as well. With that said, the colonic therapist will spend his or her days performing colon cleansing for clients. This is done with the use of specialized equipment that inserts about 25 gallons of water into the colon, through the rectum. You need to be comfortable doing this – and you need to have the ability to put your clients at ease as well.

Most states will require you to become licensed as a Colonic Therapist. Licensing starts with the right Colon Hydrotherapy Training, followed by Hydrotherapy Certification. You do not need a background in health care to start your training or to get licensed. You can actually obtain Certification in as little as two or three weeks, and certification is offered through the International Association for Colon Hydrotherapy – and that certification requires that your course has met the 100 hour syllabus requirements. The cost of training runs between $2500 and $3000.

Upon receiving your certification, you will need to find out if licensing is also required in your state, and if it is, you will most likely need to sit for a state board exam. You will also need to find out what is allowed and required in terms of practicing in your state as well, as this may have an impact on whether you must work in a doctors office or hospital, or whether you can have your own private practice or not. Either way, however, there are many opportunities available for Colonic Therapists. These professionals earn anywhere from $50 to $100 per session.
