Everyone enjoys the look of rock hard abs and celebrity sports icons can set new exercise plus fashion trends. There is no better sports icon for the beautiful game than David Beckham, the former Manchester superstar was one the greatest players to grace the sport and it is easy to see why due to his cheeky smile and well-toned bod. Here’s a great simple abs exercise routine based on Beckham’s own sport workout that will give amazing results.

First, it’s important to understand that if you want to stay in great shape you need to maintain and develop strong core strength. While Beckham’s abs aren’t along the same line as some models or bodybuilders, David has been successful in keeping a flat toned stomach. So, if you want to maintain your own flats abs you need to eat a variety of natural healthy foods while also incorporating resistance training into your workout routine to burn calories paired with cardiovascular training.

Workout Routine:

Perform Beckham foot speed drills:
One of the first exercises you can add to your abs workout is based on David Beckham’s foot speed drills. And while most people don’t need to practice these types of foot speed motions, they are great exercises to burn calories in a short space of time.

Plyometric Side Jumps:
Begin performing a series of plyometric side jumps by placing an exercise bar or wooden stick on the floor in beside you. Next, begin jumping quickly from side to side from right to left over the bar for a space of around two minutes making sure to keep the knees slightly bent. Continue for two minutes and if you’d like gradually work up to longer jump intervals.

Incorporate a Beckham side up routine:
From plyometric side jumps, move into a side up routine. Begin the side up workout by placing a steady footstool, workout bench or even level hard metal or wooden box in front of you. Then, carefully place your right foot against the side of the bench and jump to the left foot lightly touching the side of the box. Alternate on the ball of each foot for two to three minutes while focusing on tighten the lower abs.

Don’t forget to eat right:
These great abs workout starters are great for not only burning calories, but are also quite versatile and are easy to perform anywhere. However, these great abs routines are only a part of maintaining peak physical condition. These abs exercise starters need to be paired with maintaining a slim body, eating well by eating whole grains, fruits, lean proteins and a good cross section of vegetables. Be sure to mix up your abs routine by pairing in other sport training and exercises such as weight training paired with cardiovascular training such as stair climbing, running, biking or rowing.
