Let’s face it, we all want to look and feel our absolute best, which is why we women spend so much darn money on so many different health, beauty, and cosmetic products every single year. These industries are some of the most lucrative and competitive in the entire world, and when you consider just how much money women spend on various products every single year, it’s really not surprising at all.
We women want nothing more than to look and feel our absolute radiant best, which in turn helps us to feel confident and happy within our own skin, which is ironic really because it’s our own skin that tends to let us down first. We have to contend with dry skin, greasy skin, spots, blemishes, pimples, pale lifeless skin, and then droopy skin and wrinkles as we grow tired and older.
Fear not however, because there are some simple and effective things that you can do to ensure that you look and feel your absolute best, and best of all is the fact that they don’t cost the earth either.
Many experts believe that staying well hydrated is the key to great looking skin and soft and shiny hair. It’s recommended that you drink as much natural water every day as you can, ideally between 2 and 2.5 litres every single day. Ensure that you drink a glass of water right before bed, and as soon as you wake up in a morning to really get that moisture within your cells.
Cold showers are your friend:
Ok, this one may sound pretty drastic to some of you, but if you can bring yourself to try it, then please do so because you’ll be reaping the rewards soon after. The science behind this is that alternating between hot and cold water in the shower will increase your circulation and open up your pores, bring blood and colour back to your skin so that you don’t look pale and haggard. The cold water is also great for boosting the immune system and can even help speed up the metabolism so you lose weight that little bit easier. As we mentioned, if you can’t handle a cold shower, alternate between running the water warm, and then cold for several rounds, trying to increase the amount of time you spend under the cold water each time.
Stay away from sun beds:
For a start, sunbeds can cause skin cancer thanks to the harmful UV rays they emit but as well as that, they are just no good for the skin at all. The more you use them, the worse your skin will be. If you want a tan, use safe fake tans or moisturisers, and stay well away from sunbeds. Sunbeds will dry out your skin, leaving you looking older than you are, and looking like a wrinkly old piece of chewed up brown leather.
Wash your face and moisturise before going to bed:
Ideally you should bathe or shower before bed every night, otherwise you’ll be sleeping in sweat etc, but if this is too much for you, then you should at least thoroughly wash your face and then moisturise before going to bed at night. Washing it will clear the skin of dirt and grease, and will help to open up the pores and breathe life into them. The moisturiser will hydrate the skin, helping to make it look and feel soft and plump, rather than dry and saggy.
