Top Tips For A Successful Workout While on Detox

With so much advice available and new science developing; it can seem daunting when trying to figure out how to achieve our fitness goals. Whatever your workout style or whichever exercises you’re using; you’ll want to follow these top tips to maximise your workout:

The basics:

You’ll only be making life harder if you forget the basics – stick to them though and you’ll benefit so much. Get enough sleep and stay hydrated, your body can’t work out effectively or repair itself post-workout without a good amount of shut-eye and high levels of hydration.

Set realistic goals:

If you want to succeed you need to learn to set realistic personal goals; there’s no point in aiming to be at the top of Everest by next week. Break down your ultimate goal into manageable chunks – that way you will see results faster and reward yourself more often. The more mini-goals you manage, the more impetus you will have to reach the big one.

Get competitive:

We’re not suggesting you turn into Serena Williams but it’s great to workout with a friend. If you know each other’s goals you’ll cheer each other on and try to out-do each other – in a friendly way!

Keep it simple:

Get a routine and stick to it. Don’t have too many complicated components which you’re likely to get hassled by.

Make the switch:

Take the stairs not the lift, switch to skimmed milk, get off the bus one stop early and walk the rest of the way. Everyone has a few tiny things they can change for the better and these all add up to a healthier you.

Don’t beat yourself up:

You will have blips and make mistakes – it’s a marathon not a sprint – don’t dwell on it or use it as an excuse to quit – dust yourself off and get back on the horse.

Reward yourself:

Always have set rest days and find the little rewards where you can. All work and no play…

    I think that having a competitive streak can be super useful indeed to get the best results from a detox program or workout plan. When i detox i like to do some full fast just for a short while to let my insulin resistance go down and also i like to then push myself on a longer juice cleanse and only raw food. With workout too I find when I competet (in a positive way of course!) that helps me a lot on keeping to my plan and pushing it through to success.

    I think the one thing that motivates me the most with my weight loss is setting those realistic goals. Instead of saying I need to lose 30 pounds, which seems so daunting, I’ve been doing it in five pound increments. When I lost the first 5 pounds it felt great, so I added another 5 pounds to the goal. I’m 14 pounds down now, almost halfway there, and I know I’ll reach it because I didn’t overwhelm myself from the start.

    I had a very strict workout routine for a couple of months then all of the sudden I wasn’t in the mood to workout. I decided to try and switch my routines and now I workout every day, being it only half an hour in the evening, after I come home from work. I did only lengthy workouts and my body suddenly cracked and almost “begged” me to change things around. So make sure you listen to your body and switch up your workouts from time to time.

    Hope you don’t mind me adding one but “eat right”. I don’t mean as in calorie control, I mean, make sure you eat at the right time before a workout, about an hour before. Something that will release slow and constant energy like porridge with fruit.
    I have tried low calorie diets and went to do a high cardio work out on just a banana eaten during the 3 hours previously. Needless to say, I went weak and almost passed out.
