Most people consider going on a retreat, a rare luxury, which of course it is… but if that’s not something you can do right now, start to give yourself the experience of truly ‘being with yourself” wherever you are. Taking yourself away from all the usual distractions of your home environment, to a place where your attention is focused on your inner world can pave the way for a personal revolution. An opportunity for a rapid and profound transformation.
Maintaining this connection to the universe continuously, is easier after you have had a distinct experience of it. And then it takes ongoing mindfulness to notice what takes you away, with the biggest challenges usually being back in your day to day life at home, work, and relationships. No surprise about that I’m sure. The tendency is to be reactive to what is happening around us and try to fix things. When really, it’s the opposite.. Go deeper within, with “no mind”.
Too Busy To Go On A Retreat?
The way we live and the environment we live in influence us hugely. To understand this influence we need to step totally out of it’s sphere of influence and focus internally to have an experience of our ‘own’ energy. Then you have a benchmark for yourself.
If you are a healer, creative or heart-centred person, empathetic to others and sensitive to energy then it will make the world of difference to you when you can easily rest deep in your own being, familiar with your OWN energy. Then you can fly.
Become A Clearer Channel:
From this experience your interactions with others becomes very symbiotic, without losing yourself. You will find that the interaction sparks something in you, a response comes from a place of energy, outside your conscious thinking mind.
This happens in all our interactions to some degree, but the clearer you become the more conscious you become of the flow coming from your higher self, source, the universe, whatever you want to call it. And the clearer you become the more information comes through you. This becomes a totally energizing experience for you. And when nothing is sparked, you rest in total relaxation.
Breathe Your Way To Freedom:
A profound shift happened for me while practicing yoga in Bali for 4 months. I went deep into myself through breath. The breath animated my body, which knew exactly how it needed to adjust itself to create a ‘flow’ from one point of contact through my body. This became an almost ecstatic experience as the energy moved and opened my body in a bigger way than ever before, where rotating my chest to the heavens was like opening to the universe and beyond. The energy just pulled me there, and I went along for the ride.
The deepest meditation I have experienced arose naturally from the practice, especially in the transition between postures, where I was just ‘feeling’.
Give Yourself A Break:
Apart from all the immediate and obvious benefits of giving yourself a break from the pressures of your day to day life and having time to relax and restore yourself. The main benefit of a retreat, is in extracting yourself from your life and focusing internally, giving yourself the space and time, to relax and be more and more with Yourself.
The deeper you go into yourself, the more profound the change. Even, without ‘doing’ anything. Simply holding your awareness continuously within yourself.

Give yourself the space to be with ‘Yourself” on a daily basis.
Schedule time to do a small practice like 7mins of sun salutations.
Place all emphasis on using the breathe to initiate the movement and extend it beyond the movement.
Do it to your favorite uplifting, or meditative music.. Whatever helps you enjoy getting started.
