In today’s world we can get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of life that we forget about the important things. This unfortunately can result in the loss of our health. I can say that often in my life I feel like I don’t have time to worry about myself or how I feel, usually I’m too busy trying to take care of other things. It took me a long time to come up with these 5 things that have really helped me to get my health back on track. It’s tough being happy if you’re not healthy, so I suggest that everyone tries their best to follow these.
- Cut the Junk: This food can be tough to ignore. I would start talking about my personal favorite foods, but I’m afraid that I’d just end up going to the store to buy some. Needless to say, this one used to be a problem for me. Try to replace junk food with vegetables, instead of carrying around a bag of goodies I started carrying around a bag of carrots. You would be surprised at how quickly your body will lose its cravings for junk food. Resist any temptation to eat any of that junk food as one slip can put you through a dangerous spiral, I find that by keeping vegetables nearby, I never run into any serious problems.
- Don’t Fear Carbs: They get a bad rap these days, and I completely disagree. Yes it is true that too many carbs can be bad for you, but not eating enough can play a toll on your health as well. Instead look for healthy carbs to eat, things like rice and whole wheat bread. By focusing on healthy carbs you will be able to live a nice healthy lifestyle and a tasty one as well.
- Join Something Active: Just getting out and staying active can be a big deal. I myself joined a Pilates program. It was a lot of fun and it helped me get into good shape. Joining something active gives you purpose, and by joining a group you get rid of any excuses for not working out, it’s a great way to stay active.
- Read: This helps your mind stay healthy. Remember health isn’t just your body, it is your mind as well. Find good books that engage and intrigue your mind. Not only will it help your brain, but it will give you something good to talk about when you run out of conversation.
- Just Relax: This is a huge part of staying healthy, unfortunately I feel like it is something that we often ignore. Treat yourself to a spa, or go get yourself a manicure and pedicure. I find that making time for myself in order to just sit back and relax is an extremely important part to staying healthy. After all, if my mind can’t relax, how is my body supposed to ever recover?
