This is a topic that is completely misunderstood by the majority of the population. After all, it’s not something we discuss around the dinner table or even think about. How often do you ask a friend who is visiting, when was the last time they had a bowel movement?
Obviously there are more interesting things to speak about. Unfortunately, until you fully understand this subject you are jeopardizing your health and well being. A lack of knowledge can ultimately lead to poor health because by the time you correct the situation it is often too late. We spend almost one billion dollars each year on laxatives, to help us go to the bathroom, even though it is a natural body function that should not need our assistance.
I am very blessed, in that my immediate family members were in the health field and studied alternative healing for decades. They passed their knowledge to me and I want to pass it along to you. One of the most important points they made to their patients and to me, concerned regularity. What is regularity?
Regularity is defined by how many times your have a bowel movement without the help of laxatives. So the 64 dollar question is: What is normal – how many times per day should you go? The answer is going to shock you but it can be proved scientifically. When my mother traveled to the far reaches of the world and lived in primitive villages she noticed a phenomenon that she has repeated in speech over and over again. Whenever a villager ate they would shortly (usually within one hour) excuse themselves and go into the bush and squat down and have a bowel movement. They did this three times a day.
Many alternative health practitioners will tell you that normality is having a bowel movement shortly after eating. Most people do not believe this. In fact, most of us think that if we go once a day that is fantastic and once every day or two is okay, sort of normal. Why is this so important?
Before answering this let’s get even more detailed here. Let me ask you a question. Does your waste float in the bowel or sink like a rock? Is it light colored or very dark? A normal bowel movement should float and be light colored.
Regularity directly relates to our health. When we properly digest our food and have immediate and trouble free bathroom breaks we know that we are functioning at an optimum level. Regularity is important for so many reasons? It has to do with vitamin and mineral absorption, lack of stress on our system, sleep patterns, toxicity, liver stress, colon health, energy patterns, clear thinking and so much more. Almost all major health challenges we might face can be traced to regularity or a lack thereof.
Let me tell you in very graphic terms just how important this topic is. A well known health practitioner in Florida, who has great results treating cancer patients, stated, that until his client’s colons were completely clean, his chance of success with them was zero. Once their colon was clean and functioning, his success rate was very high. Sorry for the disturbing pictures to follow but unless you see this you won’t have faith in what I am telling you:
It’s not uncommon to see waste matter like this come out of a young person’s colon after proper cleansing techniques are used. I have seen fecal matter that looks like tar measure well over 20 feet long. Not everyone has old, tar like fecal matter like this, but it is more common than you might suspect.
Now ask yourself, if this was in your colon do you think your body would be at optimal levels? How does this happen? There are many reasons why we get backed up. Here are the most common ones:
- Eating too quickly and not chewing food thoroughly
- Eating processed foods and heavy meals that contain pork and red meat
- Not eating enough fruits and vegetables
- Eating large meals, especially at night
- Not combining foods properly – mixing starch and protein at the same meal
- Lack of good bacteria in the system (killed by over use of antibiotics)
- Not drinking 8 glasses of quality water per day
- Eating foods that we cannot digest and are allergic to, such as foods with Gluten in them
The seriousness of this topic can only be properly understood when you look at its cost. What toll does indigestion or lack of regularity have on our pocket book and how does this affect our ability to function in society and at the work place? Please note that your number of bathroom breaks each day directly relates to your digestive system. People who go 2-3 times per day do not have acid reflux and other common digestive related problems.
Let me ask you a question. What is the top selling prescription drug in the world? It is Nexium, with over 6 billion dollars per year in sales. Nexium is a proton pump inhibitor that decreases the amount of acid produced in the stomach. Nexium is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other conditions involving excessive stomach acid such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is also used to promote healing of erosive esophagitis (damage to your esophagus caused by stomach acid). Over 100 million Americans are afflicted with digestive disorders. The dollar and time costs associated with colon and digestive problems is staggering.
Let’s review some of the most common and best known digestive related problems. Celiac disease occurs when we become sensitive to certain foods, especially gluten. The intestinal track becomes damaged and this makes it difficult for the body to absorb nutrients. Irritable Bowel Syndrome or IBS causes gas, bloating, constipation and or diarrhea and pain. About 75 percent of the IBS sufferers are women. Almost 10 billion dollars per year is spent on this problem alone. Indirect costs exceed 20 billion. Celiac and IBS are very similar to each other.
Crohn’s disease is associated with inflammation of the bowel. Symptoms include difficulty absorbing nutrients, bloating, pain, bleeding, fatigue, diarrhea and depression. It also is similar to IBS and Celiac disease. The CDC (Center for Disease Control) estimates that more than 104 million doctor visits per year, 100,000 hospitalizations and over 100,000 disabilities are related to bowel and digestive symptoms.
Why would the stomach produce too much acid and why do we have so many colon-digestive problems? The list above for why we get backed up is directly related and often the cause of all the diseases just listed: Crohn’s, IBS, Celiac. Let me add to the list a lack of digestive enzymes. Our bodies have trouble producing the enzymes needed to break down the food we ingest because of the way we eat and all the diseases and symptoms follow.
It is so simple, we eat the wrong foods, at the wrong time, and in the wrong combination, and over time our system weakens and cannot produce through the liver and pancreas, the digestive juices needed to digest our foods properly. That’s why so many of us have to buy enzyme supplements and have digestive abnormalities.
Okay, so how do we get ourselves on track and get the colon and digestive system working again? We mentioned some tools earlier that can help jump start our system. These include lemon water and castor oil packs. We also need to eat properly. Most of us know what is good for us so I am not going to talk about this. But I do want to mention that sometimes when we eat properly, exercise, and chew our food thoroughly and do the right food combining, we still have trouble going to the bathroom. And if we use the packs and the lemon water and there is no change, a natural supplement, along with some other techniques, which I will mention shortly, is recommended to help start the process of recovery.
I am a big fan of Dr. Schulze’s products. The ones you should consider are:
Intestinal Formula #1 and #2. https://www.herbdoc.com/ I know many people who have to take these products to maintain their regularity, despite their healthy eating and living habits. The herbs are safe and easy to handle. In future chapters I will mention some other reasons for digestive challenges. Good quality digestive enzymes work wonders for some and should be used with Dr. Schulze’s products. Consult your health food store experts, as there are many types, and product brands on the market.
One of the greatest tools we have at our disposal to help solve colon and digestive problems is colon hydrotherapy. In fact, there is a society that many colon therapists belong to, and have certification with. This helps you choose a quality practitioner.
You can search this web site and find someone near you. The list is not complete so also check your area health food stores for recommendations and search the internet: http://www.i-act.org/
Colon hydrotherapy involves the use of a machine that moves clean warm water into your rectum and colon and gently pulls it back out. The pulling action helps loosen old caked waste matter clinging to your colon walls. It takes about an hour and cost around $75 per session. Some places offer package deals. Buy 5 and save, for example.
Let me tell you how effective this treatment is. Many movie stars (Oprah Winfrey and Gwyneth Paltrow for example) use colon cleansing techniques and swear that it helps them feel and look better. I had a series of colonics some years ago and the chronic sore throats that bothered me for years never reappeared after the three colon cleanses I received. For best results a series of 5 is recommended. Many good YouTube videos show how it is done. One of the best articles written on the subject of colon health, one that goes into great detail, can be found at this link: (Written By Jon Barron) https://jonbarron.org/article/death-begins-colon
Colon hydrotherapy is not for everyone. If you have any serious bowel related problems please consult your Doctor before doing colonics. That being said, I have never seen a documented case of anyone who experienced any problem after colon hydrotherapy.
I strongly recommend colonics to everyone. It is the best way to clean the digestive tract out and get you on the road to better health and vitality. It also helps to exercise the colon muscles and get them working properly again and when the colon walls are clean, many of the nutrients that are absorbed this way can be taken in again. Most skin related issues clear up when the colon is cleaned and we become regular.
Cheri’s experience after completing a colon cleanse at one of our detox retreats describe this effect:
“Only 36 hours passed between these two shots. Not only did my skin clear up, I look more serene and overall less demented in my post-colonic pic. It is probably the clearest my skin has been since I’ve gone au natural with my skincare routine. I’m really ‘upsiked’ about it.”
