How to Reduce Cellulite on your Legs (What’s Working)

One of my clients had severe cellulite on her legs, this is what she did to get rid of it.

Cellulite effects many of us even if we try to keep fit and healthy. I remember even when I first started holding detox retreats when I was younger in Costa Rica, I had cellulite on my legs.

I have so many women coming to me on my retreats, emailing me and asking whenever possible, “how can I get rid of the cellulite on my legs?”

In fact cellulite comes up so often as a women’s health issue that I deal with that I’ve even considered doing a detox retreat specifically about how to lose cellulite.

Cellulite is a very hot topic and I share everything that has worked for us

As I wrote about a few days ago one of my very first clients, Mary, had cellulite on her bum, legs and specifically the back on her thighs.

I have also had cellulite in that exact same spot, too! It seems that cellulite likes to target certain parts of the legs and the back on the thighs seem to be the main area it appears.

As you probably know cellulite is caused when fat cells become enlarged and disrupt the normal connective tissue.

So instead of having smooth even legs, our legs get cellulite coming up making them mushy and sometimes even lumpy.

There are many specific exercise moves that can help to reduce it

Exercises that target your cellulite effected areas like the back of your thighs, butt and legs in general, has worked for us to firm and tone up.

Exercises like Pelvic Raise:

This exercise is great for all of the core muscles- the lower abs, back, glutes, and quads. Do this exercise to hit all three cellulite trouble zone areas.

As well as the Inner Thigh Lift:

This move focuses on both the inner thigh as well as the abs and back muscles. It conditions and strengthens the inner thigh muscle as it move towards the center of the body.

And the Side Leg Lift:

This particular movement is a great way to exercise not only the outer thigh and hip muscle but also your abs and back. Prepare to melt away fat and firm your thigh area with this gentle but effective move.

These three exercises above are great ways to get started targeting your cellulite areas and reducing the appearance.

Exercise for cellulite works by reversing the mushiness by beginning to strengthen the connective tissue. And with cellulite, that’s what it is really about. Really hitting your connective tissues in ways that does not damage it further, yet instead rebuilds and strengthens it.

There are definitely foods that work to reduce cellulite, too

We have also targeted many foods that play their part in reducing cellulite. These are foods that you should really try and add to your diet because they have properties that help reverse the damaged connective tissue and replenish your natural collagen.

One of the best foods we’ve found to help get rid of cellulite is, believe it or not, eating more berries in your diet.

Berries whether they’re strawberries, blueberries, blackberries or whatever berries you can find.

We’ve seen from our tests with women on my detox retreats and also with cleanse plans we’ve tried, — berries are one of the very best foods you can eat to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

While eating foods that fight it won’t necessarily target the cellulite on your butt, opposed to the back of your thighs. These foods have a holistic effect of helping your entire body recover.

Try adding at least 2-3 servings of mixed berries or the berries of your choice, per week.

Apple Cider Vinegar seems to work for cellulite as well

From our tests and from what we have found, Apple Cider Vinegar seems to have a positive effect for reducing cellulite.

Like any of these methods however, it’s not like you can just drink a serving of apple cider vinegar and then your treatment is over. It’s not like that at all.

In fact all of the things that reduce cellulite can be put together into a lifestyle plan that you should live everyday.

If you can make the necessary changes to your lifestyle then you will find the cellulite falling away naturally.

If however instead you try and do some exercises, then you drink some apple cider vinegar, then you add some berries to your diet…

It could end up with you seeing little to no visible difference to your cellulite at all.

However if you put this all together into a cellulite reduction plan then these factors begin to work together, in tandem.

Losing cellulite is about following a lifestyle plan.

It really is.

Like anything in health and fitness to get where you want and to achieve your goals you need to follow a plan.

And you need to follow it consistently.

When you are doing the right things. Eating the right foods. Do the right exercise moves that really target your cellulite.

Then it is just a case of keeping on doing it until you see results.

Don’t expect to see results overnight!

There are so many different videos and pages I find online telling women they can lose cellulite in just days or a couple of weeks.

This is really not very true at all and needs to be avoided.

Getting rid of cellulite is a long term goal and it can absolutely be done. Yet if you have in your mind the idea that you are going to lose all your cellulite in just a few days, this can be detrimental to you ever achieving your goal…

Why?

Because if in your mind you think you are going to be free of cellulite in just a few days or a matter of weeks, you are setting yourself up for failure.

When you still have the cellulite in two weeks from today it could crush your confidence and end up taking even more time to ultimately getting rid of it.

Set realistic goals for reducing your cellulite

Instead a far better strategy is to set realistic goals for dealing with your cellulite problem.

OK, you have cellulite. I did too. And so have many of my clients.

Yet don’t fool yourself into thinking that it will be gone in a week. Because it won’t be.

To be conservative it will take many more weeks than that. For me I managed to reduce my cellulite to the point it became unnoticeable in about one month.

However my cellulite was not very severe. In fact I just had a little bit on the back of my thighs.

I have clients who attend my Yoga and detox retreats however who have been trying to get rid of cellulite for years.

Now fortunately many of them have managed to reduce their cellulite and in some cases get rid of it altogether.

However they achieved these results by:

  1. Having a realistic goal and vision for getting rid of their cellulite. It was a long term plan not a short term “quick fix”. They realized that getting rid of cellulite takes time to do the things that reduce it.
  2. They then made a commitment to getting rid of it, And that’s that. They did not try it for a few days and then quit. They kept on going and were dedicated to seeing results.
  3. They followed a plan that actually works to reduce it by following exercise, nutrition and topical anti-cellulite creams. And they did it consistently. They didn’t try and get results overnight or lose it in a few days, they followed a cellulite reduction plan until they completed it.

Those are the three steps that all my clients who have successfully reduced their cellulite have followed. There is a lot of garbage online and videos telling you that you can get rid of cellulite in a week or some other short amount of time.

Remember that this is not true.

What is true is that if you follow a simple yet properly laid out plan for reducing it, keep to it consistently, then you will be able to reduce it.
