India Retreats

-

India is one of my favorite destinations for Yoga and I have been coming and going for years. It is full of wonder and mystery and places like Rishikesh in the north are simply beautiful.

Rishikesh is a city that sits at the foothills of the Himalayan mountains and beside the Ganges River.

The river Ganges is considered holy, and the city is renowned as a center for studying yoga and meditation.

There are all kinds of things to do and see in Rishikesh from the ashrams and Yoga centers to all of natures beauty too.

The Beatles band are well know for going on retreat in Rishikesh and it top of the list for Yoga and Detox travelers alike.

All of India is the place to go and see there are so many places! For a detox style vacation I would suggest in the areas of Goa or Kerala. For there you will have many types of cleanses from the ayurvedic traditions and you will also find that the Yoga there is more friendly to westerners in some of these more tourist destinations.
Not everywhere in India is safe.

I have heard that India is actually really quite good for health and wellness tourism. Not like what you would expect at all. But I have been to BALI before and that was a very good place to start losing weight and there are many resorts for cleansing and spas and massages and everything. So is India as good as Bali?

Where is the best place to lose weight, detox and do some health and fitness classes, maybe even some yoga, in India?
