Laser Therapy Works for Weight Loss, or Not


Laser therapy can help dieters achieve better results compared to just a weight loss program alone. The surprising approach involves helping people to drop excess fat by improving mood. Many clients that seek help through this method have tried diet and exercise plans in the past only to wind up feeling aggravated, depressed and despondent.

Most people already know how to lose weight quickly, but many are unable to follow through appropriately. This leads to negative feelings that dieters closely connect to their attempts to lose weight. The cycle builds on the repeated experiences of attempts and failure.

The experience of losing weight is probably one of the most powerful modes of positive reinforcement there is. The main obstacle, however, is that the reward is not immediate. The laser therapy also helps by improving the dieter’s metabolic rate. The theory behind using the lasers to lose weight suggests that the approach revs up the dieter’s metabolic rate, helping the body to process food more efficiently with less chance of keeping extra energy as stored fat.

Anyone who has experienced success with acupuncture may find the laser therapy to be a sound approach to encouraging weight loss. Applying the laser to specific pressure points during the therapy can help in the following ways:

  • Reduce cravings
  • Stimulate metabolic rate
  • Improve mood

The approach works on a cellular level, offering a way to keep cravings at bay by releasing endorphins into the body. Endorphins are natural painkillers that are typically released during exercise. The brain chemical is naturally calming and it can help people feel less hungry.

When people overeat, they may be trying to get a “serotonin high” that occurs when the body processes various types of foods. The chemical reaction leads people to use terms such as “comfort foods”. The comfort foods can be replaced with an endorphin rush using laser therapy.

Laser Therapy Appointments

Clients can expect to have a number of sessions, ranging from two to five, depending on the company they choose. The idea is to boost metabolism while reducing cravings more effectively as the visits continue. Once the client has experienced maximum benefits, the sessions cease.

Treatments last about a half hour, but there is a consult and an instruction period during the session to consider. Patients should expect to spend at least one hour at the laser therapy center of their choice.
