Chanting can be a little intimidating especially when most of us are not accustomed to singing publicly, let alone in an unfamiliar language.
If you’re new to the world of yoga, you’re probably wondering what these mantras and chants are all about. And even if you’re experienced, there’s a good chance you’ve been singing along not knowing what in the world you’re singing about.
The good news is that chanting
and Kirtan are proclaimed by some to be the most expedient pathways to
enlightenment. It feels good to let your voice flow, to sway, and to
release yourself to this powerful practice.
Chanting is really blissful and joyous.
You
don’t need to have superstar pipes to reap the benefits and you
shouldn’t even worry about how you sound. If you’re pure of heart and
you give it your all, your truth and love will shine forth making your
voice beautiful (even if you are a little tone-deaf).
Now, lovers – watch the video below, learn about Om Mani Padme Hum and sing it with me!
If you start to get bored it’s probably because you’re cheating and not singing along. So sit up tall and dive in for the 5.54 minute ride. Belt it out, free your voice, and feel lighter in body and spirit. x
