Personal Development Plan


Personal development is an ongoing process in your daily life. Are there areas in your life you aren’t in control of?

That still holds true today for anyone that wants it.

Self Awareness in Your Daily Life

Whatever your personal journey is right now, you will benefit from self awareness. Self awareness allows you to identify your characteristics, thoughts, values, strengths, weaknesses, likes and dislikes.

It’s your personal understanding of your identity and how you see yourself. Your values are your beliefs and they define who you are. Your personal values also influence your motivation and behavior.

Throughout life you build up an image of yourself through past experiences. The self-image you project could have also been influenced by family, friends, and others as you grew up. Is your self-image positive or negative?

If your self-image is negative, that highly impacts your self-esteem. You lose your confidence in yourself. But… you can turn that around.

Speaking from personal experience, there is much to be said about positive thinking and mind power. Positive is always better than negative and learning to become positive is very healthy. Mind power and meditation helps you become positive and also helps eliminate stress.

I believe another misconception is about self discipline. Self discipline is the ability to take action regardless of your emotional situation. That’s a very powerful statement, but it’s also doable.

It’s all part of self awareness, knowing who you are, what your challenges are and being able to make changes in your daily life. Changes that will give you well being and inner peace.

As you learn about your own personality type and others, you have a better understanding of why people react differently to different situations.

You have to take the “negative influences” and turn those around to “positive thinking.”

  •     Accept personal responsibility for your own personal development, you are the only one that can.
  •     What you do for yourself today will prepare you for your daily life tomorrow.
  •     Don’t dwell on yesterday or tomorrow, you can only control your actions for this moment.
  •     Learn from your past experiences and the past experiences of other.
  •     Challenge yourself to learn something new every day.
  •     Don’t be afraid to fail. That can be your stepping stone to success.

It’s not uncommon for people to say, “Life is life and whatever happens… happens.” I’ve never believed nor will I ever believe anything just happens.

What I do know is if we don’t try, we don’t succeed. Hence the old saying … “Try..Try…Try Again!”

Life is filled with purpose and there is a reason for your life. There are contributions only you can make. Never stop growing or learning. Improving your self knowledge is very liberating. You can have control of yourself in your daily life.

There is a lot of information available to help you with different areas of your life. It’s not uncommon that we may be strong in one area and need help in another area. I believe we women are constantly pushed for time with managing a full time career, whether it’s a career outside the home, a work at home mom, or being a full time mom.
