What a Friday!
I had set a goal earlier this week that Justin and I would stay raw all weekend. For us, the weekend is the hardest time for us to stay raw, because we are always on the go on Friday, Saturday and Sunday! I imagine there are some of you out there who know exactly what I mean. The weekends fly by! And when you are on the go, unless you plan in advance, it can get difficult sometimes to stay raw.
But not this weekend!
I wanted to make sure we had a successful raw weekend, so I planned on taking today to make all sorts of yummy raw foods that we can eat all weekend.
What kinds of foods?
Rockin’ Guacamole
Many people eat raw food sometimes and they don’t even know it. A classic example of this is guacamole, the creamy avocado dip that for some of us borders on food perfection.
Sadly, I have found that many recipes, have too much “junk” in their guacamole recipe. Too many onions, or tomatoes, or some other “filler” ‘cuz they’re too cheap to use more avocados. Usually I like my guac on the 90% avocado side, and 10% “crunchies”, those other ingredients that give the guac some texture. Hey, I love texture, but when you can’t taste the avocado, you no longer have guacamole.
I think I’ll make an exception about the amount of “junk” with this guacamole recipe at Gluten Free Goddess. Just look at that perfect texture! Admire the bursting colors of red and green!
My mouth is watering.
I think this recipe might have to become a part of the Raw Food Recipe Challenge. You can expect to see it sometime soon, because summer tomatoes are on their way out!
I’ll post about the recipes and other raw food adventures over the weekend, as we eat them and review my culinary skills.
So I’m in a raw food making marathon at the moment, and it’s been fun today!
My favorite part? I love making food with music in the background. I love the noise of the food processor, and the sounds of some groovy dance tunes to keep me movin’!
I hope you are having a great day today…and feel free to go out there and make something raw tonight! Let us know what you make!

p.s. One good thing about raw food? Gluten is hardly an issue when you are eating raw food! Gluten is in grains like wheat and rye, not in fruits and vegetables! Go raw = no gluten!
