Weight Loss Fast-Start Plan


No we’re not talking about losing “10 pounds in 3 days” or some other crash diet where you will lose weight and then put it all back on again. Yet we are talking about a way of making simple lifestyle changes to lose weight as fast as your body safely can, and keep it off!

Because that’s what’s important after all. Being about to lose the weight and stay slim and healthy for the rest of your life.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to lose weight fast, but if you are looking for the gimmicks and quick fixes that are doomed to fail, you have come to the wrong place. If you make lifestyle changes you can learn how to lose weight for life and live as a healthier better version of yourself.

So if you are READY to take the steps in this Weight Loss Fast-Start Plan, then let’s get started!

Purify Your Body

The first step in the Weight Loss Plan is to purify your body of all of the toxins, chemicals, and other nasties that may be slowing down your body’s natural calorie burning process. As well as causing tiredness or other problems that can stop you from having the energy to exercise and stick to a proper workout routine.

It has taken years for your body to accumulate these damaging foreign substances. They permeate your every cell. One of the reasons we have so much difficulty maintaining a healthy weight as we age is this build-up.

Purify your body to reach a healthy weight with much less effort. Not to mention the other health benefits like reducing the chances of cancer, better sleep and feeling healthier in your day to day life.

Don’t worry I am not advocating a colon cleanse for everyone! Review the strategies here to purify your body. Most of these techniques are free (like drink more water) and some are even enjoyable (like massage).

Try as many of these detox techniques as you can manage right away. You will be amazed at how fast your body reacts. You will look younger, have more energy, clearer skin, and more regular bowel movements.

Purge Your Space

The next step in the Weight Loss Fast-Start is to purge your space. De-clutter to make room for your new healthy lifestyle and mindset. It will be liberating.

The plan is to purge your pantry and refrigerator. Be ruthless. Throw away or donate all packaged mixes, processed foods, comfort foods, snack foods, and anything outdated.

Read labels. If there is a mystery ingredient listed and you don’t know what it is, get rid of it.

Learn to Purge Your Space and all the Rooms in your house.

Your family room is the place your family gathers to watch TV, play games, or read together. By de-cluttering the family room you make these activities more enjoyable and spontaneous.

The living room should be your special area for guests. Imagine how much fuller your life would be if you could invite friends and loved ones over on the spur of the moment without stressing about where you will entertain them.

Your garage should neatly hold your sports equipment, bicycles, gardening supplies, and power tools. Imagine how much easier it would be to play catch with your kids or plant some new flowers if everything was in easy reach and in workable condition.

I think you get the idea. Start with your kitchen to make a nice space you can focus on eating healthy foods that help you lose weight. And then continue to purge your entire house from there.

The foundation of this weight loss eating plan is so simple you won’t want to believe it. Those of us who have dieted our entire lives are used to weighing our food, counting calories, tracking fat grams, limiting carbs, subjecting ourselves to weekly weigh-ins etc. Forget all of that.

Remember the goal of purifying your body? The overriding theme of your new diet is to keep as close to nature as possible. Lots of fruits and vegetables. Organic is best in order to avoid introducing more toxins into your body. Use whole grains. Avoid meat if you are considering going vegan or vegetarian. Use limited and lean cuts if you enjoy meat.

However the goal is to get more plant based foods in your diet. That’s right – more fruits and vegetable.

How will you get protein if you don’t want meat in your diet? Discover soy. Soy has significant health benefits and the variety, taste, and texture of available soy products is exploding. Soy milk on organic cereal with fruit is an ideal breakfast.

Eating fish once or twice a week is OK, as long as it’s fish high in Omega 3 essential fatty acids (EFAs) such as salmon, sardines, and mackerel.

Eliminate dairy. Why? Despite what the American Dairy Council wants you to believe, humans after age 2 were not meant to drink milk. The skinny people in the Mediterranean region and Asia don’t drink milk. Satisfy your ice cream cravings with delicious soy and rice sorbets.

Don’t expect to be able to make these changes overnight. The Weight Loss Fast-Start Plan is the beginning of a new healthy lifestyle. You are changing habits built up over a life time. It’s OK to introduce the changes gradually, a little at a time, only when you are ready.

Yes the plan requires moderate exercise for losing weight and getting into shape. You do not need to run marathons or spend hours in the gym. Find something you love to do and just do it. A variety of things is even better. Unless your goal is be a supermodel or win bodybuilding contests, you do not need to stress out about following a specific exercise regime.

The best place to start on the if you have not been active is walking. Walking is excellent and may be all you ever need. Swimming works too. Just remember to get moving several times a week. Exercise is the fountain of youth. The more you exercise, the easier time you will have losing and maintaining your ideal weight and the better you will feel.

Stop Binge Eating

Now the tough part. Those of us who have always struggled with our weight likely have an emotional component to our overeating. You will not be able to lose weight and keep it off if you do not eliminate the underlying emotional issues.

Do not take this lightly. It’s not going to be easy, but with commitment it is possible for your mind to heal your body and allow the healthy changes to take hold. Learn more about how to Stop Emotional Eating. Work on identifying the common causes for your binge eating. They might include boredom, fatigue, and a feeling that “you deserve it” (reward behavior).

To stop food cravings, think about why you have them and come up with an alternative. Are you bored? Take a walk, call a friend or family member, play a game with your child, watch a movie. Are you tired? Take a nap. Getting enough sleep is very important for your overall health and wellness.

Find other ways to reward yourself. Buy some new clothes to fit your new body. Get a facial or massage. Try a new, healthy recipe.


You are probably thinking I already breathe or I wouldn’t be reading this! OK you’re right. But if you take deeper breaths more often you will lose weight and feel better. Sound crazy? Studies have proven most people do not breathe deeply. Breathing can help purify your mind and body. Breathing deeply invigorates us, jump starting our metabolism. You can also breath out stress and use it as a method of relaxation.

With this plan, stop several times a day and take 3 deep breaths. Develop triggers to remind you to breathe. For example, resolve to breathe deeply every time you are stopped at a red light, each time you hang up the phone, and especially when you get up in the morning and go to bed at night.

Deep breathing can also prepare our minds to accept the affirmations that are key to stop emotional eating and even disease.

Think Thin

Sustainable weight loss and excellent health will ultimately depend on using the power of your mind. I am not making this up. Bestsellers such as The Secret and Heal Your Life said it first.

As part of the plan concentrate your mind throughout the day on visualizing yourself thin, healthy, and energetic. Anticipate the complements you will receive. See yourself wearing new clothes. The more vivid your visualizations the better.

Tips to Keep the Weight Off

Congratulations! You’ve lost weight. But to lose it for life you need a common sense, sustainable maintenance plan. Life long weight loss is tough. Only 5% lose weight and keep it off for good.

Right now you’re saying to yourself, no way – I’m not going to go through that again. I will never let myself gain back the weight.

Let’s be honest – you’ve lost the weight before (or some of it) and it’s come back right?

To lose it for life forget about the “diet” mentality. A whole food, plant-based diet, regular exercise, and finding constructive substitutes for emotional eating are part of your healthy lifestyle now. Don’t slip back into old habits.

Here are some keys to the maintenance phase:

Weigh Yourself Once a Week

Weighing yourself more often than once a week doesn’t serve any useful purpose since our weight naturally fluctuates. Every day weigh-ins are obsessive. Checking your weight less often allows your weight to get out of control.

Keep Exercise Fresh

Develop a routine for regular exercise, but don’t let boredom creep in either. Don’t get out of the habit of exercising. If you miss a couple of days due to illness, injury, or travel make it a point to resume your routine right away.

Prevent boredom by exploring new physical activities, new locations for your walks, or including different people.

Another benefit of varying your exercise routine is that by challenging different muscles you will keep your metabolism high and make maintaining a healthy weight easier.

Decide on a Ceiling Weight

To lose it for life decide on your maximum weight and stick to it. Take immediate action if you reach that weight. Don’t put it off. Are your pants getting tight? That’s a sure sign you need to rededicate yourself to a healthy eating plan and regular exercise.

Be Careful During Transitions

Life changes such as a move, a new job, or even a new relationship can mean deviations from your routine. Emotional eating may reappear if you are anxious or stressed.

Above All Stay Positive

Be proud of your healthy lifestyle. Being in shape is a confidence builder. Embrace the environmental benefits of the diet you have adopted. Know that you are making a statement about preventing animal suffering. If asked, share your weight loss “secrets” with others.

Keep it Up Everyday

Start to incorporate each of these healthy lifestyle changes. The reason why we believe in making the dietary, lifestyle and exercise changes that can help you lose weight fast, is because the results will feel better immediately. This way you can see the weight that you are losing which motivates you to stick to the plan and reach your goals.

My Personal Weight Loss Story

My story probably starts a lot like yours. Weight loss was a constant struggle. I tried some diets and supplements, but always gained the weight back and more. I finally found the answer. I am now slim and healthy, feel great almost everyday, and have helped others lose weight on the retreats that I run in Costa Rica, and many more places around the world.

I started my blog posys to share my story with all of you. The lifestyle changes and diet described in my blog posts have worked for me, and many more of the people who have tried it.

If you do it, I am sure you will lose weight. You will be healthier than ever. Plus you will feel invigorated knowing you are saving the environment and helping to end animal suffering.

I want to help people lose weight in a healthy way. There are three other messages that are important to me.

I have always been an advocate for animals, even serving as the Board Chair of the local Humane Society. I am sickened by the inhumane treatment of animals raised for meat and eggs. I hope if I can convince people to avoid eating meat and educate them about the horrors, we can force change in the meat industry.

Second, the environment. Pesticides, herbicides, and genetic modification of our food are destroying our environment. Organically grown produce is clearly healthier. Methane gas from livestock is damaging the atmosphere. The production of meat, dairy, and eggs uses obscene amounts of fuel and water. If more people switch to organic produce and give up meat, we can save the planet.

Finally, the health benefits of this lifestyle go beyond weight loss. I am living proof. At age 32 I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of rheumatoid arthritis. My major organs were shutting down and I was close to death when the diagnosis was finally made. I was pumped with prescription medication and my condition stabilized, however I remained on harmful drugs for the following 13 years with no end in site.

The side effects of the medications I was taking to control the rheumatoid arthritis would eventually lead to premature death.

No one knows what causes rheumatoid arthritis. There is a genetic marker, but not everyone with the marker gets the disease. So something environmental is also to blame.

At age 44 I gave up a stressful but fulfilling job and went on disability. The side effects of the drug regime were making it impossible to perform my job. I decided to make some major changes.

Over the following six months I changed many things. I adopted a whole foods, plant-based diet, added yoga to my exercise regime, started taking detoxifying herbal supplements, did breathing exercises and visualization, and sought treatment from a chiropractor/kinesiologist and acupuncturist. To my amazement, I dropped weight really quite easily. I was able to eliminate some of the medications completely and reduced the others by more than half.

Now I help others in any way that I can. I am not a medical doctor and so my advice can not and should not be taken as a substitute. Yet if you have some weight to lose and are interested in adopting a plant based diet, then perhaps something that I write about will work for you.
